Keeping Lag to a Minimum...
I was chatting about a few things I do to combat lag over on discord and realised I do quite a bit of maintenance to reduce lag/load times. I decided to write em all down and before I knew it, I had a big ol' list. Here's hoping it helps!
Tumblr media
Save/File Tips:
Clear your caches (located in the same spot as your mod folder fyi) I usually delete the onlinethumbnailcache, avatarcache and localthumbcache caches every time I exit the game, the main one to delete regularly is the localthumbcache file, they're just temporary files but it can get pretty big after a while.. if you're having any mod issues, particularly ui ones, it's always worth deleting that to see if it helps.
Remove any saves you're not using from your saves folder, and keep an eye on save file sizes. In my experience, any saves over around 30-40mb start to get a bit laggy. Things that bump this size up are the amount of townies in game and the amount of lots/objects in the world.
Regarding the above point, I regularly bulldoze lots I don't need anymore, just to save the game from having to cope with extra shit to load in the background and reduce save file bloat.
Similarly, I delete a lot of unnecessary townies. Also, try to keep the amount of outfits on townies to a minimum, ain't no townie need four swimsuit outfits, the game will thank you..
If you have cheats enabled you can usually shift-click/delete object on things like random coffee cups or stray cupcakes sims foolishly drop around the world (or eat em.. whatever tickles ur pickle) just get rid!
Whilst we're keeping objects in game to a minimum.. I try to clear sims inventories now and then, including townies. You can do this via mccc even if you're not currently playing that household by heading to MC Cleaner -> Sell Sim Inventory/Sell Household Inventory. RANDOM LUMPS OF CLAY BEGONE!
Think of a save file like a lot.. the more objects in it, the laggier it gets! Try your best to remove anything or anyone unnecessary where you can.
Hit "Save As" instead of "Save" now and then - the more you overwrite a save, the more chance it has of going wonky, treat your game to a fresh one now and then and remove the old one from your saves folder (maybe don't delete it right away in case you wanna roll back, keep it somewhere safe).
If you can (although ik it can be a pain) set up a new/fresh save, you'd be surprised how bogged down old ones can get! For legacy players, it's usually best to do this whenever you have a small family to save yourself some pain, since you can just save the household and take em to a new save (you will lose sims inventories/household inventories/relationships with sims outside the household tho so beware! Pictures/other collectables can be saved to a lot however, and you can always cheat back relationship bits etc.. bit of a last resort but new saves are shiny and fast!)
Make sure your Screenshots/Video folders are empty - move em somewhere else, it works, trust me. If you have a lot of custom music installed try n' clear some of those out too.. the smaller that Sims 4 directory is, the better.
Delete any last exceptions/last crashes (same spot as your mod folder again) you don't need em unless you're planning to upload em somewhere for help.
Settings Etc:
If you get a bad lag spike, opening the main menu and/or saving can randomly stop this. If it doesn't, try exiting the game, clearing your localthumbcache and restarting.
Clearing all notifications from the game panel can also help.
If you can, close all other apps and background apps you don't need whilst playing, ts4 is super memory hungry so it can definitely help.
The GraphicsRules Override file by Simp4Sims can reduce lag/latency and make your game look a little better in the process!
Srslysims Simulation Lag Fix mod can help reduce lag too (if you've altered the game speed via mccc tho, don't use this unless you plan on resetting it to default).
If you aren't keen on, or barely use a pack, consider disabling it.
Not ideal, especially for those of us taking screenshots, but lowering the graphics settings whilst playing definitely helps.
If you use re/g-shade, consider switching it off whilst playing and only turn it on for screenshots.
A clean and tidy pc/laptop runs better in general. Remove anything you're not using/don't need anymore to free up space, remove temp files, clean up your folders now and again etc etc.. especially that dreaded mod folder, speaking of...
Managing Mods:
SORT OUT YOUR MODS FOLDER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.. skdsjdjs it doesn't have to be immaculate but at the very least try n' clear it out now n' then. Also try to separate your script mods/overrides from the rest, patch days don't need to be so stressful ;-;
Personally, I don't merge my mods; if something breaks it's much harder to pinpoint! It makes it easier to find/delete specific mods too.. and let's face it, there's usually one or two items in that set you could do without lmaooo.. also, don't think it helps much tbh! Yeah you could say the game doesn't have to work as hard to load merged files but that's debatable, it's still the same amount of items/polys at the end of the day ¯\(°_o)/¯
If you like merging files and/or see results from doing so, you can merge stuff you definitely know you're never getting rid of, especially CAS/BB stuff.. but steer clear of merging gameplay/script mods! If a merged file seems to be the culprit when using the 50/50 method, try unmerging it and 50/50ing it again! You might not need to get rid of everything if something's borked.
Bulk Rename Utility can be used to remove all spaces and special characters from your mod files, the game doesn't particularly like loading those so it'll thank you.
The Sims 4 Mod Manager is a great way to sort through your mods, you can easily see, move and delete files from here (not great for build/buy, poses etc as thumbnails are usually missing, but great for CAS stuff). An extra hint with this that I've noticed is that if any of my mods get renamed with [D1] at the beginning after looking through them via the mod manager, it means it's a duplicate file so you can get rid.
I also use the Sims 4 Tray Importer to help me sort through mods. Simply save a sim/lot with any cc you don't want and find it in the importer, you can then go through all the cc in the cc tab and delete/sort it (I also use this to sort cc if a bunch has the wrong tags etc, makes it easier to find in my folders by saving em to a lot or w/e - it also spots duplicates which is handy).
It's a ballache, but the 50/50 method is tried and tested if you're having issues.
I like to keep an abandoned cc folder tucked away somewhere, that way you can remove mods willy nilly without stressing about losing them. If you change your mind, you can always grab it back!

How Ravens and Vultures Use Their Environment Differently?
Tumblr media
Ravens and vultures are both scavengers and often seen in overlapping environments, but their methods of survival and interaction with the ecosystem vary significantly. From their feeding behavior to social structure and preferred habitats, each bird has developed unique adaptations that influence how they use their surroundings. The comparison of raven vs vulture reveals a fascinating contrast in intelligence, mobility, and ecological roles.
Feeding Behavior and Adaptation
Vultures are specialized scavengers that rely almost entirely on carrion to survive. Their primary tools are sharp eyesight and, in some species like the turkey vulture, a highly developed sense of smell that allows them to detect decaying flesh from great distances. These birds often soar high in the sky, covering vast areas with minimal energy use, thanks to their broad wings and ability to ride thermal air currents. Once they locate a carcass, they descend swiftly, often arriving before other scavengers.
Ravens, however, are much more versatile in their feeding habits. While they do scavenge, they are also known to hunt small animals, forage for insects, raid nests, and even consume plant matter such as fruits and seeds. Their omnivorous diet allows them to thrive in a wider variety of environments and not depend solely on carrion. Ravens are also known for caching food—hiding leftovers in secret spots to retrieve later, a behavior that requires memory and forward-thinking.
Intelligence and Problem Solving
One of the most remarkable traits of ravens is their intelligence. Studies have shown that ravens possess advanced problem-solving abilities, tool use, and social learning. They are able to understand cause-and-effect relationships and even engage in play, which is considered a sign of cognitive complexity in animals.
Vultures, while not as intellectually curious, exhibit an incredible efficiency in locating and consuming dead animals. They are more instinct-driven, relying on physical adaptations rather than learned behavior. Their contribution to the ecosystem is invaluable, as they clean up remains that could otherwise spread disease.
Social Behavior
Vultures tend to feed in groups and show social cooperation at carcasses. Multiple vultures will often descend on a carcass at once, and though competition is fierce, their group behavior ensures that a large amount of decaying flesh is consumed quickly and efficiently.
Ravens are also social, but their interactions are more complex. They often travel in pairs or small groups and use vocalizations and body language to communicate. Some ravens have been observed using deceptive behavior, such as pretending to hide food in one location while secretly stashing it elsewhere—demonstrating awareness of others' intentions.
Habitat Use
Vultures prefer open areas like savannas, deserts, or plains, where they can easily spot carrion and use thermals to soar. They typically nest in high, isolated places such as cliffs or tall trees, away from predators and human activity.
Ravens, in contrast, are highly adaptable and can live in forests, mountains, tundra, and even urban areas. Their ability to adjust to changing environments, including human-altered landscapes, gives them an edge in a variety of ecosystems.
Conclusion
In the comparison of raven vs vulture, both birds are essential to the health of ecosystems, yet they fulfill very different roles. Vultures are efficient, specialized cleaners of the environment, while ravens are intelligent, adaptable opportunists that thrive in diverse conditions. Together, they reflect the range of evolutionary strategies birds use to survive and contribute to the natural world.

Dragon Age Veilguard first six hours of gameplay from someone who hasn't waited a decade for the game and who absolutely loved every part of Origins yes even the fade yes even the deep roads yes even the brecilian forest yes even the circle yes even denerim yes
Well first off be ready for the game to have a SHIT optimization. I had to restart my guy a grand total of six times until I was able to progress past the first rage demon crossing the screen three minutes after the introduction cinematics. My recommendation is get rid of the shader cache on your PC settings, delete the shader cache folder in the game files, lower the resolution settings, uncheck the hair strand animation that looks like ass anyways, and maybe restart your computer for good measure after that. Doing all this by trial and error went from the game loading 96% of the shaders in 45 minutes then crashing to starting in 3 seconds and not crashing (that is. Until the cinematic with Morrigan four-five good hours later which prompted me to go to bed. I suspect my PC of overheating and the shader cache to still be too large)
Now that your game is up and running well. Well that character creator is fucking amazing innit. It's a really good mix between all previous BioWare character creator iterations and it allows to make guys with very interesting facial features and good control over pretty much everything without being too huge and overwhelming, and still retaining some of the physiology of the different people from the previous games (contrary to what some steam comments would have you believe about the qunari –who had one (1) face model in DA2, cmon)
As for the fights, they've completely changed from the previous games, bye bye real time strategy and welcome final fantasy 7 type combat with perfect timing dodge and parry, and sometimes asking your companions to do some special actions (not ATB gauge tho, but you DO have a cool finish). And to my great pleasure, hello difficulty calibration ! This bangs. I'm gonna make the enemies even a bit more dangerous than I already did because I'm still not really challenged during the fights so far :)
Speaking of calibration I am extremely impressed by the accessibility tools, there's the now usual screenshake toggle, but also a screenshake slider, a size and opacity slider for subtitles, adapted colors for colorblind people you want it you name it !
Keyboard and gamepad binding are fully customizable, which is nice because you have quite a lot of tools during the fights and it takes a while to find a comfortable way to play. Luckily, the introduction is long enough that you don't feel unsatisfied by the fights you use as calibration I'd say.
In terms of the game itself the fights are quite fun ! I do miss the strategic aspect of DAO but I can also always replay DAO if I want that lol. There's still puzzles which I love, making you explore the environment a bit more, and the environment seems dense at first but is pretty easy to read thanks to a solid artistic direction. I love you artistic direction I am kissing you on the mouth. Yup this game looks a bit "cartoony" in its art they've chosen to go away from hyper realism and boy am I glad. In my opinion, the game looks a lot like Origins if it had better, more recent lighting tech and cleaner textures. I really like it ! It's still quite dark, at least in those first few hours it's been quite fucking dark lmao I don't know who out there thinks it's just silly goofy but may I remind you a recurring theme of Origins, the game where there's a dozen of you fighting a war against a living plague that eats the world while the royalty has sent assassin's after you, is that the country smells of wetdog ? Dragon Age has a lot of silly moments. It's true that Veilguard so far suffers a bit from the Cool Quip disease but I'm still very much at the beginning and I trust that I'll see the relationship develop between characters. Overall my biggest fear is that with only three choices carrying over from Inquisition (who you were in a couple with, did you disband, what'd you tell Solas at the very end), the game might make me face a world state I had no part of and that will frustrate me from the "everything carries over across a twenty year history" game franchise. Already felt weird getting a letter from Isabela due to the background I've chosen and not reading a word about Hawke. I wanna hear about Dagna and the Warden commander and how the royal family is doing in Denerim and whether Sebastian fucked off forever in the end and how are Leli's nugs doing >:( and I want to see Sandal again >:(
Overall fun time so far will come back to you all with more and with screenshots and shit over the week !

Infinite loading/saving screens glitch fix.
Infinite loading and saving screens can be caused for multitude of reasons. From save files too big or corrupted, to not turning off cheats in-game or store content missing appropriate fixes. Below the cut we'll delve into both situations and ways to handle it.
Before trying anything, we recommend for the players to give the next steps a go:
Clearing their cache
Following Steam guide, or our guide, to optimise their game.
Should the tips from these guides not work, we suggest the following solutions.
Infinite loading can be caused by: bloated (big) or corrupted files, too many mods, mods getting corrupted (broken or outdated) or incompatible with one another, duplicated or broken CC, too much of CC, Sims2 files in package form within your Packages folder, in-game options referenced in guides haven't fully been adjusted, long save files with large households and builds, gaming device issues. When the loading persists and doesn't move from the same point for a prolonged time, we suggest attempting to bring up Task Manager to "kill" the TS3 program. We do not recommend hard shutdown (holding power button), as it can cause device damage, unless the game is impossible to shut down through Task Manager.
Solutions:
Removing save files ending in .bad, and reverting to a previous save,
Removing missingdeps.idx from DCCache folder,
Steps of getting ErrorTrap, Overwatch, MasterController from the guides above - reset the town with MC on City Hall, use MC or Overwatch to delete all Sims' inventories in town, run daily town clean-up with ET and OW. Get Traveler if you have World Adventures, University Life and/or Into The Future,
Running a Save Cleaner on your problematic Save file,
Redownloading new copies of your mods, and making sure they're the latest updated versions which match your game version,
Researching to check if mods used are incompatible (if they edit the same thing), and removing the mods which clash,
Using Delphy's Dashboard for previous bulletin, along for checking CC in .package forms and making sure they're not Sims2 content,
Using Delphy's CUSTARD to check your CC in Sims3Pack,
Removing unnecessary (unwanted or duplicated) Mods, Custom and/or Store content,
in-game options of Memories and InteractiveLoadingScreens disabled + removing Memories from Scrapbook,
Using NRAAS Porter to pack up and move your household to another town with their relationships intact,
Using NRAAS Saver to Save thoroughly, under new name each title, instead of always saving over the same file,
Removing extra saves from your Saves folder (Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Saves) to another trusted device (we suggest an external disk), and keeping under a handful of wanted ones - the folder shouldn't have 4GB & more of files.
No space on Disk - the game requires at least 35GB extra free space to be able to run smoothly. Free up some space or reinstall the game on another disk/drive with more space (back up your The Sims 3 folder before this).
Gaming device ran out of memory or is incapable of running that specific save.
If all else fails, removing your current The Sims 3 folder outside of Documents to somewhere safe, and generating a new one. See if the issue persists with other towns and other families.
Infinite Saving is often caused by the same or similar reasons as Loading above, but there are few other things which can cause the saving loop. Besides using tips from above, we also recommend:
Turning off cheats - sometimes using cheats like moveobjects and buydebug can cause saving issues. Simply bringing up the cheat console and turning them with typing moveobjects off or buydebug off can help.
Also remember to turn off all cheats before saving, testingcheatsenabled false included.
For Store Content users, Store Content needs fixes to work properly. For those who've used Games4TheWorld's KT Store Fixes or those who never tried Store Fixes, we strongly advise to download and install Phantom99's Store Fixes.
Gameplays should be shorter (no longer than a couple of hours) for different reasons. Create a few save files. Fully exit the game. Clear the cache and remove unnecessary saves (or all except the last one). This allows your device to cool off and possibly regain the memory it lent to the game. You can get back into your gaming again.

Busy week
I had a week full of software development. I slacked off on a bunch of other activities, such as physical exercise ... and blogging. So now I'm overdue for progress report...
Recall that last Saturday I completed Chapter 28 of the Java Vulkan tutorial and blogged about it, reporting just 2 chapters to go.
Chapter 29 was on multisample anti-aliasing (MSAA). I got that working on Sunday without much difficulty (8df30b5). However, it's a subtle effect (unless you have humongous pixels), so it didn't justify posting yet another screenshot of the Viking room.
Chapter 30 of the tutorial is the bonus chapter on compute shaders. That's a neat trick, but not relevant to my immediate plans, which involve turning the V-Sport project into a graphics engine.
I realized that the tutorial code makes simplifying assumptions that are inappropriate for a graphics engine: a single 3-D geometry with pre-baked lighting, mesh must be composed of triangles, a stationary viewpoint, no user input, and so on.
With this in mind, I abandoned the tutorial and undertook a massive restructuring of the code, to allow scenes containing multiple geometries (or no geometries at all). Along the way, I:
implemented a texture cache, to save memory and CPU cycles in case an application requests the same texture many times (2eaf093),
changed the naming scheme for shaders to match my OpenGL graphics engine,
made a plan for multiple shaders. In every V-Sport shader, vertex buffers will be laid out in the same order, the same uniforms will be defined, and any given uniform will have the same buffer offset everywhere. These restrictions simplify the implementation, while leaving possibilities to optimize later if they prove inefficient.
considered the possibility that a window might migrate from one GPU to another. If this ever happens, all application-visible "device resources" (textures, shader programs, and vertex buffers) can be silently updated, recreating their underlying Vulkan resources (images, shader modules, and mappable buffers) from scratch. I haven't seen this scenario in practice, but the time I spent thinking about it led me to a cleaner design.
split the uniforms into 2 buffers, one for global uniforms (such as camera orientation) that are the same for every 3-D geometry, and another for per-geometry uniforms (such as model orientation). Seems logical, ought to be more efficient, but wow was it tough to get right!
deferred loading of shader modules until they are actually needed for rendering (9397178),
altered when command buffers get recorded. In the tutorial, each command buffer gets recorded exactly once, during initialization. In my engine, a command buffer gets re-recorded for every frame. Dynamic command recording allows the set of geometries being rendered (and all their properties) to vary from frame to frame.
All this work cleared a path for rendering multiple objects (3035e15) earlier this evening. Tomorrow I'll play around and (hopefully) post a screenshot that's both interesting and relevant.

There are so many good ones in this list...
Grabbing the exact number in a handful is unbelievably useful, especially if you're going into construction (nails, screws, nuts, bolts), food service (even portions of food, presuming this works when you wear one of those food handling gloves), or pharmacy work (filling prescription orders).
Knowing exactly what time it will begin raining in the immediate area that day is very useful for water collection systems, such as rooftop water collection, so you know how much time you have before you have to clean out the first flush diverter cachement from the last rainstorm's runoff. It can increase the chances of making sure enough water is caught/cached for irrigation needs. You can predict when a river will rise to flood stage when a storm system is about to dump even more water into an already overloaded riverbed, etc, etc, etc.
Once a week, you can feed yourself or someone else. (Hopefully with a gluten-free option for those who cannot consume wheat, or options for other such allergens/issues.) It's just one person, but it's still incredibly powerful, because sometimes people are in desperate need of just 1 meal.
Cats. 'Nuff said. (Yes I know I didn't pick this one, no I am not ill in any way; I just think I'd rather have the cats come to me, is all.)
...I have severe arachnophobia, but I suppose it'd be super nice to be trustworthy if you're an arachnologist, studying spiders professionally.
Emitting the scent of any flower at will can help bring joy to the blind, lift the spirits of someone stuck in an antiseptic-cleaner-reeking hospital room, give someone a scented experience without risking pollen-based allergies, and more.
...I cannot crack my knuckles, it freaks me out, and I know it doesn't hurt your joints too much--and yes, I know it can alleviate suffering for some people--but if your finger joints light up for 1 minute, you will never have to worry about being completely lost in the dark ever again. So that's actually pretty cool & useful. (Far more so imho than the spider trustworthiness power if you're not someone who studies spiders, arthropods, etc.)
You never stub your toe again is the most underrated minor superpower. My little pinky toe has a black toenail because of not having this superpower...and it's been months since I stubbed it. Highly underrated superpower. Almost picked this one.
I know a LOT of people will go for the "erase your memory of a book so you can reread it for the first time again" and I totally respect that...but...I love being able to think back and remember a book that I've ready, and then if I re-read it, i can remember certain things from later in the book that I suddenly realize were foreshadow-hinted-at earlier in the book, and that's a great feeling, enjoying the author's cleverness. If my memory is erased, I don't get to have that feeling, and that's kinda sad for me. But for others, completely valid and I support it.
Beaming a catchy pop song into someone's head...I almost picked this one. There are so many evil people worldwide I would absolutely plague with this...but in the end I decided not to go that route. (Also didn't pick it because unless it's like just think of them and beam it to them without needing line-of-sight or whatever...well, I don't have direct access to any of the people who do disserve to be earwormed into a huddled mess.)
I picked the count fish in a body of water route. I wouldn't go on the water very often because I easily get motion sickness, but it would be highly useful to biologists and environmentalists, especially if I could tell what kind of fish in which numbers. Look at it, write it all down, move on to the next inlet, lake, or stream. Very environmentally practical, doesn't harm anybody, and it doesn't involve my phobia.
Changing eye color would be great for people who do a lot of acting or a lot of (especially face) modeling, but who cannot wear contacts. Yeah yeah, getting away with crimes, thwarting facial recognition software, blah blah blah...nah, let's go kind and practical. Perfect for modeling and acting.

Handling HTTP Requests in Angular the Right Way
Why mastering HTTP communication is key to Angular development success
In the world of modern web development, Angular is known for its powerful features and modular architecture. One of the most critical tasks developers face while building Angular applications is managing HTTP requests—whether it’s fetching data from a server, submitting form information, or interacting with external APIs. If you're looking for the best Angular training in Hyderabad, understanding how HTTP requests work in Angular is a fundamental step toward becoming a proficient front-end developer.
Why HTTP Requests Matter in Angular
HTTP requests are the bridge between your Angular application and the data it needs to display. Without this bridge, your app would be static and unable to respond dynamically to user interactions. From loading a product list on an e-commerce site to submitting a user registration form, every meaningful interaction in a modern app involves sending or receiving data.
Angular simplifies the process of managing these requests, but doing it the right way is essential. When HTTP requests are handled incorrectly, they can slow down your app, expose it to security threats, or cause data inconsistencies, ultimately damaging the user experience.
The Angular Approach to HTTP
Angular provides a built-in mechanism to manage HTTP communications efficiently.UI components and request logic are separated by its design. This not only keeps the code cleaner but also makes it easier to maintain, test, and scale as the application grows.
Instead of using outdated or manual techniques, Angular promotes the use of structured services that handle all data communication. This separation allows components to focus solely on presenting the data, leading to a smoother and more organized development process.
Best Practices for HTTP Handling
To handle HTTP requests the right way in Angular, developers should follow some best practices:
Centralize HTTP logic: Instead of writing request code in every component, create reusable services. This keeps the code clean and reduces duplication.
Use consistent error handling: Every request should be equipped with error-handling logic so the application can respond gracefully to failures.
Manage loading states: Informing users when data is being fetched improves usability and builds trust in the app’s performance.
Secure your data: Always validate and sanitize data before sending or after receiving it, especially when dealing with sensitive information.
Optimize performance: Avoid redundant requests and use caching techniques when possible to improve speed and efficiency.
The Path to Professional Angular Development
For developers aiming to build scalable, reliable, and maintainable Angular applications, mastering the correct way to handle HTTP requests is essential. It’s not just about sending or receiving data—it's about doing it with structure, efficiency, and professionalism.
